History
Sand Creek Ranch is nestled within the largest mountains in British Columbia. The flat valley bottom is filled with fresh running water which provides fishing and boating opportunities. On either side of the ranch are lakes of unsurpassed beauty, putting Sand Creek Ranch in one of the most spectacular places in the world.
The ranch was homesteaded in 1960 by Patricia and Walt Foster Sr, and remains a family-run working cattle ranch. Carol and Walt Foster Jr have dedicated many years of hard work to raising the ranches third generation, caring for their cattle, and to breeding and training registered Quarter Horses. These horses roam the fields, making for gorgeous sights from the river or while hiking.
The Foster family has carefully managed the ranch and is committed to developing the land with environmental stewardship practices which control impact on the grazing lands and watersheds used by the ranch. The beautiful glacier-fed rivers and streams do more than provide this place with fresh drinking water and recreational opportunities; they are also the source of hydro-electric energy for the two large homes and out-buildings!
